U Design a Water Bottle Holder
Problem: Your water bottle keeps falling off your desk. Is there a way to attach it can you create something to hold it onto your desk?
1. Start by drawing out a design that you think could clamp to your desk and hold the water bottle.
2. Click on this link to check out some ideas from the web

3, Remember this is just an initial sketch it should be very rough and does not have to be dimensionally accurate

Part 1 The Clamp
1. Once you have your sketch its time to get some dimensions. A clamp is a great way to have something hold onto a desk. Start by measuring your desk to get some accurate dimensions.
How wide is your clamp?
How far in does you clamp go above and below on the desk?
What is this distance?
2.
Now you have you desk dimensions lets put them into Tinkercad. Click on the Clamp button to get started on building our clamp for our desk. The workplane has a clamp, a screw and a base for the screw. Start by adjusting the red desk to match the dimensions of your desk
3. You will need to shorten that screw. Follow the video below to get that done.
4. Another great skill to have is to be able to lengthen screws, check out this video

Part 2 The Holder

5. Now how will you hold the water bottle? You have looked at some ideas on the web and have a sketch. How you do this next part is up to you and you can use the example given but you will need to measure the dimensions of your water bottle and place a cylinder about the same size in Tinkercad to act as your bottle.
6. Below is an example of a holder created in Tinkercad
how big is your bottle?
this screw will hold the movable piece on
this is the piece you created, the clamp duplicated and rotated
this is a separate piece to slide on to adjust to different bottle sizes
7. Feel free to use this example for ideas, you will need to export your clamp design out of tinkercad and into this new space

What you will do: We are going to design a holder for a desk. It can hold your phone, pencils, water bottle, whatever you like! We will need to design the clamp first that will hold onto the desk! Start by measuring the edge of your desk.

Ok you have a couple measurements but what will that clamp look like and how do we even make it clamp? Click this button to get started
1. First we have to create a desk in Tinkercad that will match our dimensions
2. We will need to shorten the screw to fit a little bit better. Check out the video below to learn how to shorten a screw
3. When you are done export the design to your desktop

Part 2- the holder
Now we will build the holder that will be attached to the clamp. You will need to measure the item you want to hold to get accurate measurements. Below is an example for a water bottle You will be able to access this example, here use it for inspiration and your design can take any form you wish!

1. If you have a 3D printer you can print out your design and see if it works. If not you can compare designs in your class and look at similarities and differences in each design!
